The soldiers stood by watching the three companions standing close to each other, the elven mage; the elven warrior and the Dwarven Marksman Thorgim, a few hundred yards away from the orc cave.
After a short incantation they all disappeared, the soldiers were shocked.
-Elven magery, one muttered.
They were now all looking very closely on the spot with the brave heroes had just vanished, most of them noticed that the grass in the immediate area move unnaturally. But when the seemingly invisible adventurers had passed a few dozen yards away even the keenest of eyes couldn’t pick up any trace at all.
The soldiers were all watching closely on the orc fortifications which had sprung up in such a short time. The two orc heads bobbing up and down on their watch were still patrolling with no idea of something happening.
One second there were two heads, the second there were just one left.
-Must have been Thorgrim. I can see him reloading his crossbow, one said
Before Thorgrim could shoot again the second head vanished and the great ranger was seen running up the path to the outer fortification.
Morg and the Baroness shuffled towards the fortification.
-He is gonna ram the door, said a soldier.
From afar it was quite comical to see the dwarf bounce off what was thought of as a door.
The lot of them chuckled.
-Heh, the door was open.
-Look at him jump, one said as a ballista bolt flew out.
Then all of the great heroes walked in to the fortification and disappeared.
The soldiers lost interest when nothing happened for a while and started to throw dice.
-Where did the Gladiator go?
-I think he has the runs, he has been sitting in the shrubbery scaring of wild animals for quite some time.
After quite some time one of them said:
-Isn’t that Morg running towards us?
-Yes you might be right.
-The council needs your assistance at the cave. Bring the wagon, Morg said.
Just moments after a great explosion tore through the air. The inner wall had be blown out, bits and pieces pelted the ground around them all. The crane slowly but surely toppled over.
The soldiers hurried over to the cave with everything except Marcus, and as they reached it the elven warrior floated down the mountainside and told where to find the rest of the adventurers.
The soldiers quickly went up and got them and then they all went back home. Not missing anyone.
