Richard was looking out over the plains. A pavilion could be seen a stones throw away where the orc chieftain and the baroness were speaking. He had a bad feeling about this. Most of the town soldiers were with him along with all the council men and a few others.
Dealings with orcs were a bad thing, although he knew the reason.
His employer pointed to a place far away to the south of the orc main group.
Movement, he said
Richard saw the grass in the distance moving unnaturally. Someone was sneaking up on the meeting or the orcs.
A messenger was dispatched to warn the baroness. Seconds after the messenger has reached them a volley of various projectiles arched in over the orc party. Several orcs went down. The baroness charged forth to vanquish the intruders with the orcs coming close behind.
A few combatants sallied out of the gate to help the orcs against whoever disturbed the meeting. But they were attacked by the orcs!
Filthy scum, Richard thought, they had made an ambush for the baroness and whoever tried to help. Masquerading it as an attack from a third party.
The first pack of orcs were dealt with and everyone seemed to be standing. Thorgrim probably came to the same conclusion, and decided to do whatever he could to help the baroness, as a fireball exploded in one of the orc groups. The biggest one.
The rest of the orcs charged him where he stood alone and Richard ran to his aid, but it was far away.
The baroness and the orcs that survived the fireball were just standing there not engaging each other as Harald charged them with ymira close after. But the orcs swatted them aside and walked towards the main fray.
As Richard reached his employer he just had time to kill the last orc there and that group too was down. With all their minions down the orc leaders fled.
Richard patched up everyone that he could and vengeance was vowed on the orcs.
